A Visual Symphony

Known as the Jazz Samurai, TOKU arrived in Greece for an extraordinary collaboration with A. Polyzogopoulos, G. Kontrafouris, and K. Konstantinou. Together, they paid tribute to the cool, romantic sound of Chet Baker, presenting beloved jazz standards in an intimate, drumless format—just as Baker himself performed them during the last decade of his life. Meeting him and creating this photoshoot project was a truly inspiring experience.

In jazz, each musician brings their unique style and interpretation to a performance. Even when playing the same piece, no two performances are ever identical.

Whether it’s the smooth phrasing of a trumpet or the understated beauty of a ballad, jazz has its own sophistication. Similarly, our garments are crafted with unique finishes, handwork, and special detailing. Each piece stands out, much like a jazz solo, reflecting the wearer’s personality.

The Man Bhind the Music:

Born in Niigata, Japan, TOKU discovered his passion for music as a teenager, first playing the cornet with pop and rock influences. But it was jazz—particularly the flugelhorn and trumpet—that captured his heart. During his college years in the U.S., he embraced the improvisational spirit of jazz and the deep respect musicians hold for one another.
Since releasing his debut album in 2000, TOKU has recorded 17 solo albums, performed on prestigious stages worldwide—from Blue Note Tokyo to major festivals across the U.S. and Europe—and collaborated with iconic artists, including Cyndi Lauper.
With his effortless blend of tradition and modernity, soul and sophistication, TOKU became the perfect match for La Vaca Loca—a true testament to how music and design can be in the same tune.

“Jazz is often characterized by syncopated rhythms and varying degrees of improvisation. But I also feel that there is the element of respect in its essence. In this era of turmoil, I believe Jazz has its own purpose. The improvisational aspect of Jazz, challenging for the unpredictable. The attitude of one respecting another and sincerely listening from the heart. Transcending differences, Jazz shows a path for a hopeful future. That’s why I want to continue playing. As long as the world needs music.”
